August 4, 2016 - Rodeo Queen selected for the Adelanto rodeo

ADELANTO—the Adelanto Rodeo is still more than two-and-a-half months away, but one task is off the checklist of things to do in preparation… selection of the Rodeo Queen.  15-year old Adelanto resident Lexi Specchio was chosen over 10 other contestants vying for the title.

“I’m excited that I was chosen the first ever Miss Adelanto Rodeo and can’t wait for the rodeo to begin,” said Specchio, a student at Serrano High School.  Specchio is no stranger winning competitions.  She has won several Appaloosa Youth World titles, multiple saddles & buckles competing in numerous rodeo events as well as two horse trailers for being named the AVYRA All Around Cowgirl for the last two years. In 2013 she was crowned the Hesperia Wranglers Young Queen with a clean sweep of all categories, including; horsemanship, rodeo knowledge, interview, speech/modeling & appearance.

“Lexi represents the cream of the crop among the many talented young people we have in the High Desert, and I’m thrilled that she won the privilege of being the first Adelanto Rodeo Queen,” said Adelanto Mayor Richard Kerr.  Lexi carries a 3.0 GPA while competing in multiple rodeo events, being part of her high school FFA (Future Farmers of America) and still finds time to enjoy photography, art, trap shooting & fishing.

“We’re proud of the fact that our rodeo is sanctioned by the National Police Rodeo Association,

and if last year’s rodeo is any indication, this year things will be just as exciting for fans to enjoy,” said
