School Resumes August 7th
Commute Times Near Schools will Increase - Plan Accordingly and be Patient!
|
|
|
Adelanto High School and the Adelanto Elementary School District welcome back students to school today, August 7th!
School administrators would like to reminder drivers to expect delays around school zones during drop-off and pick-up times. Please be extra cautious and keep an eye out for pedestrians as we readjust to our school year routines.
California Law requires drivers to stop for school buses when they have a stop sign arm extended and/or lights flashing. Bus drivers are able to report vehicles who violate this law up to 24 hours afterwards, resulting in hefty fines and suspension of driver's licenses.
Please be patient and put the safety of our community's children first! For more information about school schedules and calendars, please visit the AHS and AESD websites.

The City's Animal Care & Control Department would like to remind residents to be extra vigilant this time of year. Young children and pets are especially vulnerable! Please keep a close watch on little ones and teach them how to be safe when playing outside.
Snakes in our region are usually out in the morning and evening looking for food and water. They will hide in the shade during the day. They like to find shelter under porches, patios, stacks of wood, tarps, children's toys / play shelters, etc.
The best way to protect yourself and family is to be proactive: Keep your yard clear of trash and debris. Remember that trash attracts rodents and rodents will certainly attract snakes!
If you do happen to come across a snake, follow these simple steps:
- Stay calm
- Back away SLOWLY
- Immediately bring children and pets inside
Do not attempt to kill or relocate any snake. For the most part, snakes will be more afraid of you than you realize. They will typically go away on their own, but residents with questions are welcome to call the Adelanto Animal Care & Control Department at (760) 246-2300. After hours information may be found on the department's website here.

American Legion
Post 229
Adelanto Veteran's Organization Serving Our Community
|
|
|
Did you know that Adelanto has its very own American Legion Post? This local non-profit group has been dedicated to serving veterans, families of veterans, and our local community for decades!
The American Legion is a patriotic veterans organization that was chartered by Congress in 1919 and has grown exponentially in membership and influence since its founding. The Legion advocates for all current and former members of our nation’s Armed Services on the national level while focusing on supporting individual veterans and their communities at the local level.
“We are very fortunate to have these types of organizations in our City. The American Legion, specifically our local Post 229, provides very much needed services to our community. As a veteran myself, I’m proud to live in a City with such a dedicated group of former Service Members and their families.” said Mayor Pro Tem Daniel Ramos.
Post 229 in Adelanto is a family-friendly place to gather. This group of veterans and their families host dinners, breakfasts, bingo, and karaoke nights every week. These events and meals are open to the public. Our Post’s local Auxiliary provides some of the best food in town for a price that can’t be beat!
Please see the schedule below for upcoming events or call Commander Richard Slaughter at (909) 244-7272 for more information about Post 229:
Karaoke: 5pm – 9:30pm, every Friday
Bingo: 2pm – 5:30pm, every Saturday
